Museum Quarter

Day 2: On Saturday September 25th, we went to the Museum Quarter in Vienna.  We took the trolley to Karlsplatz then the underground to MQ.  We walked into the main courtyard area but didn't realize there wouldn't be much going on at 10:30AM when it was cold out.  After this we went down Mariahilfer Strasse, a street of great shopping. Our favorite store was one that had hip home supplies like couches, pictures, and decorations.  We stopped for lunch at a cafe and then kept browsing the shops.

After walking up and down Mariahilfer Strasse, we decided to go back to Naschmarkt to get some goods for dinner.  SInce it was Saturday we got to see what the Naschmarkt flea market was like.  We bought an assortment of ravioli, blue cheese and bread, cauliflower, yellow pepper, falafel and dessert.  It was a random assortment of food but made a lovely cheap dinner.

  1. I had a feeling you'd like Mariahilferstrasse :)

Too bad there weren't many people at the Museum's Quarter when you stopped by, but at least you got to check it out.

How'd you enjoy your first falafel experience?

Also cool you got to see the flea market on the Naschmarkt.

  2. Cool vest! Did you get that at the flea market?

Looks like you are trying some interesting foods. I am not sure what they all are. Good for you because that is what travel is all about.

I had take out Pad Thai tonight, because I was feeling sorry for myself---here alone and my face is all bruised from my dental surgery. The good news is that this to shall pass.

  3. When you were at the Museum Quarter, Grandma was getting my boys off to school. Kathryn, Uncle Chris and I were at Children's Hospital. Kathryn has a certain diagnosis of celiac disease now, like me. You didn't know keeping a blog would be a way of getting family health info, did you? ;)

Was that vest at the hip store you mentioned? Those look like funky dressing rooms behind you.

It's good to see some new blog entries!

    Love, Aunt M.

  4. Aw, tell Kathryn I'm thinking about her. I saw some great looking gluten free brownie bites at Harrod's the other day... Our local grocery store also has an aisle for gluten free items, and they don't look half bad.

The vest was at a hip store on Mariahilfer Strasse. I didn't buy it though. I thought it'd be fun to try on expensive ridiculous looking clothing.

  5. Love the vest-looks like something I might wear! Your expression told me you did not like it! Your dinner was an interesting combination of foods. I'm glad to see you are trying some new foods. New cuisine is a big part of traveling; It can be hard to break out of your comfort zone with food!
