Hundertwasser

On our last morning in Vienna, we decided to venture out of the city and to the Hundertwasser Village.  Hundertwasser was an Austrian painter and architect from Vienna.  He is known for creating buildings with bright colors, organic forms, and rejecting straight lines whenever possible, (which is often).  Josh actually warned me to be careful walking because the floor would be uneven.  Not a great place for the clumsy.  I had seen images of his work in a book Josh brought back for Connor a few summers ago so I was really excited to see it up close.  It took us awhile to get there since I read the map wrong but eventually we made it.  We didn't have as much time as we would have liked but luckily we got to see a bit before our flight back to Heathrow.

  1. What a fun place to visit. I would have loved to stumble around there. I have had trouble knowing where you are. You certainly are having a great experience.

I got my blood results today---testing for Celiac Disease. Yeah! I'm negative.

    G. is still on the farm, and they go to Syr. for the game this weekend.

We walked around in the museum area in Vienna also. We liked the large plastic lounge chairs. Before we were there there had been an upside down house on top of the large gray building at the end of The complex. Wish we could have seen that.

  2. I forgot to tell you that there is a huge Frieze Art show in Regent Park that is going on now. It might be worth checking out or not.

    Love and miss you.

  3. Glad you made it to the Hundertwasser house. The guy definitely had a unique perspective on architecture.

  4. See? I'm not the only one to put health information in blog comments. I seem to have inherited that from my mom! ;)

I remember when Josh went to the Hundertwasser house and blogged about it. I Google Imaged it and pored through the pictures. So fascinating. I'm a bit clumsy so I would have to watch my step every moment there!

I'm so glad you're getting to see all these places and really getting the most out of your time there.

    Love, Aunt M.

  5. The architecture is so fascinating. Glad you have been able to "broaden your horizon" so much. Sorry we won't be able to go to Vienna also when we visit. Maybe next time! Love you, MOM
