As it turns out, I will not be homeless in London. We had a housing orientation on Wednesday and were given tips and a packet of information including numbers for landlords they have had good relationships with. We called one landlord and met him at Marble Arch station which is 4 stops away from my school building.
You must have a key to open the main building door or be rung in by someone who lives there. Someone is usually at the front desk and the landlord said there is a porter. We will be residing on the 5th floor. Here's a view of the flat when you first walk in.
The kitchen is the first door on the left, my room is the next door, a full bathroom is next, and at the end is the boys room which they like to call the “Man Cave.” At the end of the hall on the right is where the other three girls will be staying, followed by the living room on the right as you walk in. Here are some pictures of the other rooms...
This is the kitchen which has a refrigerator/freezer, microwave, oven, stove top, dishwasher, washer/dryer and appliances, silverware, etc. There is also a balcony off of the kitchen which you can see in the bottom picture.
Here is my room for the semester. I gave the flag to the boys for their room so it is no longer taking over my wall. The room has a decent amount of closet space and a dresser. Like what I've done with it? Here is my personal full bathroom which is attached to the room. Not too spacious, but it's mine.
This is the only bathroom not attached to a room. It is technically the boys' bathroom but we'll all use it since it's near the living room and kitchen.
This is the “Man Cave" where the three boys will sleep. I have a feeling it won't stay this clean despite the amount of storage space they'll have.
This is where the other three girls are staying. It has a desk, walk in closet with full length mirror, and a bathroom much like the others.
Last but not least, the living room. It is huge! Don't let the photos fool you. It has a dining room table that can easily fit 7 people. The other perks include a flat-screen TV with cable and leather furniture.
All in all, I'm having a great time so far. It's nice having a week before school officially starts to explore and become oriented with our new homes.
It was so great to talk to you today and video chat with you on Skype. Everything is working out so nicely so far! Continue to have fun and be safe! Talk to you soon. love, MOM
ReplyDeleteWow, wow, wow! What a nice place!
ReplyDeleteGlad you're settling in sis. Have fun!
Bri might want to pre=arrange this flat! It really is amazing. So much for "student"housing!
ReplyDeleteHey there - Aaron and I were just admiring your pictures of your new flat!! Can we come live you with your place is bigger than our current quarters!! LOL Have fun and keep updating the blog - I finally created an account. Love ya
ReplyDeleteGrandpa and I love your apartment. More later but Josh is showing me how to do this.
ReplyDeleteWow, what a fantastic flat! Don't get too used to it -- your first apartment out of college is unlikely to be furnished so well, have so much space, and be in such nice shape. It's gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteSorry I'm late on noticing these entries - I guess I had the prior entry bookmarked instead of the main part which would show me updates. (/loser!)
